Last year was a great year! I moved to a fantastic NYC condo – dream house. Barbi work ’06 was a terrific year.
So that everyone would know that I finally had my own show, The Oxygen Channel ran ads on the sides of tons of buses in NYC and Detroit of me in the arms of Fabio for “Mr. Romance,” the reality series which I co-created with Gene Simmons from KISS, produced and also was the on-air host for. It was a dream come true to work with Oprah Winfrey’s network and all the great people there at Oxygen! The network executives also hired me be one of the spokespersons in the television ads for all the major networks - some of you probably saw me saying OH! a lot and I loved every minute of it!
Many of you probably don’t know that I have a perfect size 6 foot actually just like Cinderella’s(!), and the feet you’ve been seeing in all the ads for sometime now for Victoria Secret, 9 West, Avon, Chadwick, Steve Madden and Newport - is Cindy Guyer’s - my perfect foot! But now it even gets better - this past year in September Fortune Footwear made me not only their foot model but their face and spokesperson as well and they’re going to roll out with 40 stores opening in China with the Bijou line their all American shoe line for Asia. The company is planning a huge promotional blitz and as I’m a big part of it I’ll be doing personal appearances and signings all over the Orient. They say blondes are very popular over there and I’m very much looking forward to going there and experincing our different cultural habits.
I’m still in big demand for and did quite a bit of modeling in ’06 for Romance book covers which is always something I’ll love doing. In addition you can see me in Dara Lamb sportswear, for Conair – I’m their Smooth & Silky girl, Chie Imai Coats model, a fur photo shoot in South Beach at the Shore Club shot by Victor Malafonte when I just fell in love with Miami. In fact now I’m planning on spending a lot of my time there working this winter as my agency Wilhelmina has encouraged me to be there and is very excited that I’ve agreed. I was even asked to write an article in the Miami Herald; “How To Pose For A Romantic Boudoir Photo.” After my piece Yoko Ono did one on being an artist - so I wasn’t in bad company - not bad at all! When it came out and was so well received I may be also be adding writing in ’07 to my credits!!
A wonderful charity I was introduced to and became involved with is Animal Haven, located in Queens, NY, and next month in Februrary we are opening a No Kill shelter located at 251 Court St. (near Prince St.) for 300 cats and dogs that need homes. I also helped host a golf outing in Alpin, NJ with some friends, the writer Pat Sellers and her husbandSpencer Ross this past June. There were quite a few athletes there…my favorite, Ralph Bianca, who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. We’re organizing another benefit for them this year in June and will keep you posted when.
As you can tell doing charitable work is very important to me and I’m now also very involved with the well known St. Jude’s Children’s Foundation - the same one Marlo Thomas is in charge of. I’m helping host one of their events called The Night of Enchantment next month in February. It will be a fashion show with Wilhelmina and Ford models… a very “fairy like” night….”very me.” My very close girlfriend, also a model/ writer, Dawn Gallagher, is co-chairing. (Dawn and I were roommates at 16!!) Frederique, Carol Abt, Jill Sorensen, Kathy Ireland, Ann Curry, Karen Duffy, etc., will be there. Rita Cosby will M.C. Try to come!!! If all thats not enough I even opened a wine bar called Wine & Roses last August It’s located at 73rd and Columbus. I was the founding member and one of the backers.
